Help Keep the Winemaking Home Page a Free Website , a self-serving plea for support October 24th, I have not written anything here in a long time. I will not go into all the episodes of Murphy’s Law I have encountered, but suffice it to say they were numerous and often severe. Most recently, my health took a turn for the worse and a full diagnosis is still pending. However, I promised someone that I would post my recipe for Black Raspberry Chocolate Port the next time I posted anything, so that is the main event of this entry, followed by a reprint of an earlier piece on Dutched Cocoa Powder, an essential ingredient in the recipe.
Black Raspberry-Chocolate Port Black raspberries and Dutched chocolate make a great combination for a special port wine. I have long kept this recipe a secret-not because I didn’t want to share, but because I wanted something that was “just mine” and when I tasted this I knew it was the one. Over the years I have had so many requests for this recipe after I inadvertently mentioned it in a blog post that I had finally decided to share it in a future TidBitt entry, mainly to entice more people to subscribe to that now defunct enterprise.
I suppose the time has come. I have made it several ways, the easiest being using farm squeezed and filtered black raspberry juice. For me, it is also the most expensive since I have to buy the juice from afar and have it shipped to me.

Author Michel Wolff claims in his book Fire and Fury that the President’s staff view him as a “child” and “semi-literate”. In response, Trump went on a Twitter rant, branding the book “really boring and untruthful”, and adding that he is “like, really smart” and “a very stable genius”.
Trump’s IQ has been a subject of debate for years. The president told Forbes:
The Heirloom Daffodil Orchard at England’s Felley Priory. Featured on the cover of Gardens Illustrated, Felley Priory’s Daffodil Orchard is the “crowning glory” of its “renowned gardens” – and filled with nothing but heirlooms.. The Priory has been in the Chaworth-Musters family since , but most of the daffodils were planted in the s.
I try to follow these rules in maintaining this document: The list is sorted alphabetically case-insensitively. Aphorisms are absolutely restricted to 80 characters after the first two the category letter and a space , not including the attribution if any. You must stop at some arbitrary length, or you can easily collect a uselessly huge set of sayings. Eighty characters is the historical width of a dumb computer terminal.
If an aphorism doesn’t fit, and it can’t be made to fit without destroying it, it’s not included. When the list is displayed with variable-width characters, such as through a web-browser, this restriction is not as apparent. Sometimes firstname is one or two initials. If two, follow them with periods and separate them with a blank. Sometimes middle names are included too, but usually not. It’s not really important where an aphorism came from; attributions are just included for curiosity.
What counts is the message itself, except in rare cases where the attribution is an integral part of the message. Where relevant, use the word “proverb”, rather than “saying” or another term.
On 12 December , EuroNight train number Orient Express left Strasbourg on its final overnight run to Vienna, and on 13 December the celebrated name Orient Express disappeared forever from the official European timetables after years. True, the Orient Express may have been the ultimate example of a knife that’s had its blade and its handle replaced many times, but this train was indeed the true descendant of that first Express d’Orient and it officially carried the name Orient Express.
You can trace its evolution from timetable to timetable, year to year from to Although a TGV connection from Paris was provided, the writing was on the wall for this train when it stopped directly linking the French and Austrian capitals.

The intra-continental Congo—Zaire Basin was also a long-lived feature, as well as the Somali Basin from Late Carboniferous times, in conjunction with the development of the Karoo basins of southern Africa. This configuration, in combination with eustatic sea-level fluctuations, had a strong influence on facies distributions. The Paleozoic tectonic history shows an alternation of long periods of predominantly gentle basin subsidence and short periods of gentle folding and occasionally basin inversion.
The Nubia Province was the site of numerous alkaline anorogenic intrusions, starting in Ordovician times, and subsequently formed a large swell. The strongest deformations, including folding, thrusting, and active strike-slip faulting, were registered in Northwestern Africa during the last stage of the Pan-African Belt development around the West African Craton end Early Cambrian and during the polyphased Hercynian—Variscan Orogeny that extended the final closure of the Paleotethys Ocean and resulted in the formation of the Maghrebian and Mauritanides belts.
Only gentle deformation affected central and northeastern African during the Paleozoic, the latter remaining a passive margin of the Paleotethys Ocean up to the Early Permian when the development of the Neotethys initiated along the Eastern Mediterranean Basins. The Mesozoic—Cenozoic sedimentary sequence similarly consists of a succession of eustatically and tectonically controlled depositional cycles.
Through time, progressive southwards shift of the basin margins occurred, related to the opening of the Neotethys Ocean and to the transgressions resulting from warming of the global climate and associated rise of the global sea level. The main tectonic events were the polyphased extension, inversion, and folding of the northern African—Arabian shelf margin resulting in the development of the Alpine Maghrebian and Syrian Arc belts, rifting and drifting along the Central Atlantic, Somali Basins, and Gulf of Aden—Red Sea domains, inversion of the Murzuq—Djado Basin, and rifting and partial inversion along the Central African Rift System.
Two major compressional events occurred in the Late Santonian and early Late Eocene. Minor or more localized compressional deformations took place in the end Cretaceous, the Burdigalian, the Tortonian and Early Quaternary.
